Morning brother! How's you day so far? Hope this finds you and your family well. Brother Allen Cleveland told us the other night you were either back home or headed there soon. That's good news. Here's some more. As you may or may not know Cypress 1423 voted to send a box a month to you and the troops. Well, it looks like we've over done it again. I see three or four packed or nearly full. So, I guess it's time to show up with another $15 bucks in my pocket and fire off another salvo your way. God speed and stay safe ... jwhoff
JW, We got the items! Thanks so much! I distributed them to the soldiers and sailors here (I am on a Navy-administered project). Your kindness and generosity, is in the finest traditions of Masonry. The troops here love to read!
Good morning Brother, Cypress Lodge 1423 sent off boxes two through four with plenty of coffee, some tobacco, reading materials and assorted other goodies Wednesday morning. Box one left a week or two ago and probably should arrive before long. Let me know when you get them and I'll relay the information to the brethren. We had a good evening Tuesday packaging the boxes, going over our work to greet the DDGM and topping it off with another E.A. degree for a very nice 20-something gentleman. There seems to be, as you well know, a renanisance among the younger generation and masonry. It's very good to see and is changing our demographics quickly. Anyway, hope this missive finds you and the gals and guys all safe and looking forward to coming back home. God bless and keep you all ... jwhoff
JW, I am flattered that you tell my story. Maybe some of the brothers can get a chuckle or two. My blog is Charles Martin's Blog. Iraq, Afghanistan and Freemasonry I have visited only one Texas lodge, Fraternity #1111 in El Paso. I was on the way to Saudi Arabia, and I caught the plane in El Paso! I am delighted and touched, that you and your lodge are donating the items. The guys here, just love to read! cemab4y@hotmail.com
Brother, Hope this missive finds you folks safe, warm, and well in Afghanastain. You have one box already en route from Cypress Lodge 1423 AF & AM of the Grand Lodge of Texas. We are wrapping up another two or three within the next few days. They should be in the mail before week's end. Included will be printed materials about freemasonry for you to distribute among those members of your unit who may be interested in the craft. The lodge is involved in sending packages to our forces across the world. The guys packed 30 or so boxes to overflowing in less than 45 minutes the other evening. We were spurred on by a local group, Cypress Cares, started by a fine lady of the community. She came by the lodge a few months ago and gave us the particulars. Hope you don't mind but your personal story has been told and retold in our lodge over the past month or so. If you ever get the opportunity we'd love to have you set in lodge with us.
